Tourist Attractions
The town is situated in the eastern Spain, in the Valencian province of Castellón. It is located in a valley near the Mediterranean Sea (7 km away) devoted to citrus farming and surrounded by coastal mountains.
Tourist attractions in the town and surrounding areas
- Ntra Sra. de l'Assumpció church: Baroque façade. It was built at the end of the 17th Century. La Capilla del Sagrari is very interesting, with old glazed tile. It has an organ which has been restored after being destroyed in the civil war.
- Sant Josep Caves: located on the outskirts of the city in the Sierra de Espadán Nature Reserve. They hold the largest subterranean navigable river in Europe, which is 2,750 metres long, out of which 800 are suitable for tourist visits. It is a magnificent example of a hydrologically active cave, where remains of Palaeolithic sites and cave paintings have been found. The highlight is the tour around the crystal-clear waters. The visit lasts 40 minutes and is mainly by boat. It is suitable for everyone and an additional caving/tourism visit can be booked.
- Costa Azahar: tourism brand of the beaches of Castellón. It offers a wide range of beaches where you can sit back and relax in the sand with the natural aroma of oranges and pine trees. Castellón features two natural parks with virgin coastal areas: the Sierra de Irta Natural Park and the Prat de Cabanes – Torreblanca Natural Park. These parks enable us to enjoy sand and sea in their purest forms.
