The Perm Academic Theater begins its history from the production Potemkin Armadillo on March 14, 1927. In 1948, the theater received a permanent location and in 1982 moved to a new building constructed in a project by architects V.P. Davydenko and V.I. Lutikova. In the course of the 20th century, more than 460 shows were performed. In the 1990s, more than 20 shows received certificates from the All Russian, All Union, and international festivals.
Stone Park – a unique open-air museum not far from the train station. It was named in honor of a unique collection of mountain rocks, which could be seen only in Ural collected in the Permian region. An original sculpture of a scarab beetle manufactured out of car roofs with a four-meter sphere, stones, and sculptures grinded out of mountain rock and laid out along the park rows with benches. Situated in the park are two fountains and cozy locations created by the best designer scenery in the city.
'The Perm Gates' by artist Polissky – is a giant 12-meter Russian letter “P” made out of beams of fir. Serving as the inspiration for the art project was the artist’s expedition around the Perm cities. According to the author, this project is designed feature a time portal leading out of the Permian gods of the past to the stone jungles of the present. The construction looks like beams hanging in the air, as if rising out of the water to the sky.
The House of Merchant Sergey Mikhailovich Gribushin was built in 1897 by Permian architect A.B. Turchevich in modern style. The mansion was built for the family of public official Kashperov. In 1905, the building was purchased by Sergey Mikhailovich Gribushin and he reconstructed it. Later, a garrison office shop was set up there, then it was a military hospital, and then a children’s hospital. Currently, it is the location of Permian science center UrO RAN –the “house of scientists. They say that it was exactly this building that was portrayed in Boris Pasternak’s novel “Doctor Zhivago”.
The Planetarium was created by initiative of the Permsky Kraevedchesky Museum in 1960. Initially it only housed 50-50 people and was located in one of the regional natural history museum. In 1967, a new Planetarium building was constructed with a star hall diameter of 13 meters accommodating 140 people. Newer equipment began to appear gradually and today the Planetarium presents a wide range of lectures. With the help of special projectors situated around the perimeter of the planetarium star hall, you can almost go to Mars “in person”, to the moon, to the jungle, or on the North Pole as well as see shooting stars and fireballs fly.
The wooden alien was built in 2011 around the anomaly zone –Molebka village. The unusual monument was built out of pine by local artist Viktor Sazanovy. Local artists have dubbed the alien “Alesha” and it soon became a tradition to pile coins down at the feet of the Molebka resident. Set up next to the sculpture are stopping points to hang out at so that tourists can not only take pictures will the art object, but take a break for a while as well.
