Kudymkar is a town in the western part of the Perm Territory, located in 200 km from Perm.
Kudymkar is one of the places where the Komi people lived in the 9th-10th centuries. Kudymkar entered into the Russian state in 1472. In the 16th century Russian people started to populate Kudymkar. In 1647 it was the center of the region. In 1927, the iron foundry was launched and next the furniture factory, flax industry and tannery appeared. Kudymkar gained the status of city in 1938.
Today, the population of Kudymkar is about 31,000 people; more than half of the population are Komi-Permian.
