Iskitim - a town in the Novosibirsk region, located 26 km from Novosibirsk. Population - 57,938 people (2014). At present, Iskitim is one of the most industrialized cities in the Novosibirsk region. There are several large works industries, supplying construction companies across the country.
20^th Century life in the village of Iskitim was uneventful in the 1930’s. However, rich deposits of limestone and shale were discovered in 1929. These resources created the preconditions for the construction of a large plant for the production of cement, and then the appearance of the city.
After the war, the city started a real industrial boom: this opened up new production. Rapid development has been slowed only by Iskitim’s restructuring.

Tourist attraction:

• History and art museum;
• Mountain skiing complex;
• Limestone boulder weighing 40 tons in the central square. It is unprocessed and symbolizes the main wealth of the place.
