The city is located on the right-hand bank of the River Danube, on the south-eastern edge of Mezőföld on top of the Pentele loess wall, 67 km from Budapest. The city, built at a height of 150 m, is bordered by the River Danube on the east at a 10-km section, while it is surrounded by quiet hills on the west. It is the seat of the small Dunaújváros region, the second largest city in the county and the most eastern one. The company group, Dunaferr Rt. is still one of the most important industrial complexes in the country, which plays a decisive role in the life of the city that has found its real place in the economic and cultural life of Hungary and has become a major tourist center of the eastern part of the Mezőföld. Dunaújváros has a vivid cultural life. In addition to traditional music events, the arts play an important part as well.
